Discover How COLENXT Is Building the Future of the Music Industry
The future we envision is one where music returns to the center of the music industry. Building the future of music requires more than accepting the way things have always been done. It requires the courage to rethink what’s possible.

COLENXT is a Strategic Artist Development company created by Simon Cole.| We are not a marketing agency and not a PR agency. We work on behalf of record labels, management companies, and individual artists to develop an artist's career and help them reach their specific goals. This is different from traditional artist development, which focuses on the artistic side of a project, sound, visuals, and creative direction. COLENXT focuses on everything that comes after: strategy, growth, monetization, promotion, and audience expansion. Our working method, the NXT Formula, is an original methodology, and our approach to this kind of development it’s unique.
What We Do

We develop the commercial and strategic side of an artist's career.Everything we do is aimed at positioning the artist in the music market so they can live off their music, or, if they are already positioned, at strengthening that position to meet the goals set by the artist, their management, or their label. We deliberately do not offer certain services that are common in the music marketing industry, because we consider them harmful to artists. These include:
-Playlist submission services, where an artist pays to have a track placed on a playlist.
-Press release services, where announcements are placed on blogs with no real readership, purely because those blogs have a commercial agreement to repost press material.
-Generic advertising campaigns, built without any prior research and applied the same way to every artist, regardless of their actual goals or audience.
How We Work
When an artist joins the NXT Program, our strategic artist development program, they share their goals, artistic vision, and the values that define their project. From there, our team builds a path designed to help them reach those goals. The relationship is built around weekly, one-on-one work. Each week, the artist meets with Simon (or their assigned NXT specialist) over video call. This person works alongside the artist much like an added member of their team, dedicated to developing the project itself. Artists have direct access to Simon (or their assigned NXT specialist), including his phone number, so the relationship functions as a genuine, personal one rather than a standard client-vendor interaction.Behind the scenes, our team continues analyzing the artist's data on an ongoing basis. This constant analysis is what allows us to help the artist move strategically from one goal to the next, and to spot meaningful changes early enough to recommend specific actions before an opportunity is missed.

Why This Approach
We are openly critical of typical music marketing agencies because, in our view, most of their services actively damage an artist's career rather than helping it.Playlist submission services, in particular, are often powered by bot farms, largely based in South America. The listens these generate are real in the sense that they come from real devices, but they are fake in every meaningful sense, because those devices have no genuine musical taste: they simply listen to whatever they are instructed to. When this activity reaches an artist's music, it confuses the platform's recommendation algorithm and prevents it from correctly identifying and growing the artist's real audience. Over time, this creates a dependency: once the algorithm is confused, the only way to keep generating streams is to keep paying for them, because organic algorithmic growth is no longer possible. We also consider press release services and similar practices to be ethically problematic, since they provide no real benefit to the artist and function purely as a way to generate revenue for the agencies selling them.
The Process

The process begins with Data Analysis, one of COLENXT's core strengths. Our team analyzes a large volume of data drawn from every platform the artist is active on. This data feeds into the Artist Dataset, a dataset exclusive to that artist, which our team updates every month. A selected portion of the most important data is then returned to the artist through the NXT Performance Tracker, a tool within the NXT Studio, the platform that artists in the NXT Program have access to. Through the Performance Tracker, artists can see the key metrics that show how their career is evolving.
That data forms the scientific foundation of the work. Combined with years of field experience, strategic vision, and creativity, it becomes the NXT Strategy, a strategy built specifically for that artist. This is what defines the precise goals and the step-by-step milestones that will lead the artist toward them.
Methodology
What differentiates our data analysis is not access to data itself, since the underlying data is accessible to anyone, including the artist. What makes the difference is how that data is processed, interpreted, and applied, which depends on field experience and strategic judgment rather than the raw numbers alone.

Our research and analysis process is structured in stages:- Data Recon
- Data Processing
- Signal DetectionThese stages lead to what we call Strategic Insights. A portion of the metrics and formulas we use in this process are proprietary to COLENXT, developed internally, and not something that can be replicated elsewhere in the same form. The study of signals is central to this methodology, because it is what allows an artist to reach what we call the Algorithmic Loop.
The Power of DataData holds a level of power that most artists still underestimate. When analyzed properly, data can help us do things that once seemed impossible:- Understand an artist’s career trajectory
- Identify where their project is heading
- Make informed predictions about what could happen next.It can also help us identify potential opportunities long before they become obvious. By studying patterns and signals, we can better understand which songs have the strongest potential for growth, virality, or commercial success, allowing artists and teams to make smarter decisions about where to invest their time, budget, and resources.Data also helps us recognize momentum. When something starts working, whether it’s a song, a piece of content, or a specific strategy, we can identify the signals early and understand when it’s time to push harder, invest more aggressively, and maximize the opportunity before the momentum disappears. The goal is not simply to collect numbers. The goal is to understand what those numbers are telling us, and use that intelligence to make better decisions, reduce uncertainty, and optimize an artist’s career.
Algorithmic Loop
The Algorithmic Loop is a concept describing a specific, abstract state with concrete career consequences. It is generally reached somewhere between 0 and 50,000 monthly listeners, provided those streams are real. Streams generated through marketing agency playlists or purchased fake streams do not count toward this, and can actively work against it.Spotify's platform operates on signals: every listen sends information to Spotify's algorithm about the listener's behavior and taste, which the algorithm then uses to suggest that artist's music to similar listeners. This mechanism compounds at scale.Once an artist reaches the Algorithmic Loop, Spotify's algorithm understands their audience well enough to keep recommending their music to the right people, producing organic, systematic, and largely automatic growth, along with passive monthly income from algorithmic playlists and algorithm-driven streams. This is the shift from being an emerging artist making music as a hobby to making a living from music. Every major artist operates within this loop, which is why it is virtually impossible for them to stop growing or earning on Spotify, since their numbers are large enough that the algorithm has no reason to stop recommending their work. For artists within the major label system, this state is typically engineered through editorial playlist placement, significant advertising investment, press coverage, and television exposure. For independent artists outside that system, it has to be built independently, through other means and resources.

COLENXT was founded in 2020 as a resource specifically for emerging artists. Over the years, it evolved into an high-profile service working with major projects already well positioned within the music industry.Starting in January 2026, at the founder's initiative, the NXT Program has reopened to a very limited number of new artists, with the goal of building the next generation of artists.
